It seems like that garbage cans were nothing but more than containers used for collecting waste, and they certainly weren’t things you wanted on display in your home. Times has changed nowadays and many of the trash cans you see today are elegant and stylish, not to mention the fact that they are also considerably more hygienic.
When it comes to garbage bins and hygiene, it takes a lot to beat a step bin. While these have been around for decades already, the modern ones just look so much better than their predecessors. Of course the biggest advantage of a step trash can is that you’re able to dispose of your waste without actually having to touch the bin with your hands. This is particularly useful when you’re working in the kitchen preparing food. Instead of opening the bin with your hands, you simply push a pedal with your foot and the lid opens. One could even go as far as saying these contribute towards water conservation. Just imagine how times you would have to wash your hands when preparing food because you’ve had to open your bin lid with your hands. While you may not save a significant amount of water on a daily basis, it soon adds up, and over the course of a few years, you would stand to save gallons and gallons of water by using a push-peddle bin in your kitchen.
Push-peddle bins can also be a good idea in the bathroom, particularly if there are sanitary towels being used by any members of the public. In fact, they’re an all-round winner because they create a relatively good barrier between the waste they hold and the immediate environment.
As you may well have noticed, hospitals and clinics rarely use any other form of waste bin apart from the large outdoor garbage bins. Inside however, push-peddle bins are the order of the day, and once again, this is primarily for hygiene reasons. Doctors and nurses don’t want to be touching dirty bins when they’re dealing with patients, for fear of spreading dangerous bacteria.
This style of bin is also available in many different colors and styles, so it’s easy to find one to suite practically any type of decor. You’ll also find them made from a variety of material. While the plastic ones are certainly the cheapest, they’re not as aesthetically pleasing as their stainless steel counterparts, and neither are they as durable.
In more recent times, we’ve also seen the arrival of automatic bins. As with the push-peddle type, the automatic ones also offer hands-free operation. These are for the most part electrical appliances which use infrared sensors in order to know when they must open. While these can certainly look great in ones home, and while they are without a doubt better than traditional push-peddle bins, they do cost considerably more and many people simply cannot afford such an expense on top of all their other expenses.
Bottom line is, it is really does pay to buy a good quality waste, and one which is going to provide a high level of hygiene, such as a good push-peddle bin, or as they’re often called, step trash can.
